On August 4th, 2007, at 12 noon, New Earth Nursery hosted "A Day on the Green" to remember. An outdoor, all-day, all-night festival; NEW-EARTH-Stock was a blast from the past with 6 bands, a huge barbeque, beer, soft drinks, & water all provided.People brought their motorhomes, RVs, campers, and tents, and heard some great Rock 'n Roll, Blues, Jazz, Horns in the beautiful Sunol Valley at the New Earth Nursery Growing Grounds.

Headliners for the show were Mic Gillette/Jon Smith Project. Mic was the leader of the "Tower of Power" horns section for many years, and with Jon Smith playing sax, ( Edgar Winters "White Trash Band" ) and considered one of the most soulful sax players in the country. Mic also had Carl Perazzo from Santana playing drums.

Lydia Pense & Cold Blood along with Tower of Power were responsible for the term "East Bay Grease" in the early Seventies. Lydia's voice is still an amazing treat for those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's.

The Gary Cambra Band is a rockin' machine. Gary, also a Newark Grad, has spent the last 17 years as lead guitarist & keyboardist for "The Tubes."

Then we had Ron Thompson & The Resistors. Truly one of the great blues musicians in the country, Ron is also a 1971 Newark High School graduate who has won 2 "Bammies" for Best Blues Guitarist. He was bandleader for John Lee Hooker and has played with far too many big names to list here, so check out his website.

Whitey and keyboardist/vocalist Mike Scoggin have played the Bay Area together for 25 years, in the bands "Ravin" & Starkravin", with many original songs in their repetoire that Whitey wrote in the "old days." Newark Grads took a trip down memory lane, rockin' the stock on August 4th.

The opening act was the Megan Gillette Band. Daughter of headliner Mic Gillette. Megan is an up and coming whos dad sat in, and from start to finish, invitees were in for a concert that will not soon be forgotten.
