Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) is a striking native perennial with clusters of fragrant pink to mauve flowers that bloom in mid to late summer, drawing in a flurry of butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. As a host plant for Monarch caterpillars, it plays a vital role in supporting pollinator populations and restoring native ecosystems. Unlike its name suggests, it adapts well to garden conditions and isn’t limited to swamps—thriving in rain gardens, pond edges, and any area with consistently moist, well-drained soil. With its tall, upright habit and vibrant blooms, Swamp Milkweed adds color, height, and ecological value to any wildlife-friendly landscape.
