Maypop Passionflower
Passionflower is a perennial herbaceous climbing vine with beautiful and tropical-looking purple and white flowers. This Southeast native will produce passionfruit; our taste testing trials here at the nursery have found them to be tart but good! Grows best in full sun and well-drained soils. Passiflora incarnata is a host for several species: Gulf Fritillary, Variegated Fritillary, and Zebra Heliconian. It has edible leaves, flowers and fruit. Valued by native peoples for its sedative, relaxing qualities.
This vine will take over a space quickly, so give it plenty of room to do so. You can trellis it or let it grow on the ground, which it does seem to prefer.
Arrives in a well rooted 3.5" x 5" pot.
