Native White Yarrow
Yarrow is a versatile and hardy perennial known for its feathery, fern-like foliage and clusters of small, flat-topped flowers. Native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, this resilient plant thrives in a variety of conditions and is a favorite in gardens for its adaptability and usefulness.
Did you know you can make a spit poultice (chew up the fresh leaves in your mouth and apply the resulting pulp to your skin) to stop minor bleeding? Several times over the years we have nicked ourselves with garden shears or the like and immediately turned to the yarrow growing nearby to stop the bleeding. It feels like magic, how quickly it works!
Yarrow also has deep roots that help stop erosion, and beautiful highly attractive blooms for a variety of pollinators. It does spread easily, so keep that in mind when choosing a site for Yarrow.
